A few eagle-eyed Australian residents caught a left-hand-drive Holden Commodore VF driving in the state of Victoria. This particular image was scored by Ben Williams, who said that the Zeta-based prototype Commodore was part of a pack that included “a full-sized Dodge”, which we can only assume to be the Charger.
A refreshed Commodore VF will be exported to North America, with what will likely be several changes, as the upcoming Chevrolet SS Performance Sedan — marking the return of a rear-wheel drive Chevy-badged sedan in 17 years. Other than that, we still have no information on pricing, exact production plans, or specifications.
On a somewhat related note, others have also caught a Holden Colorado 7 (Chevy TrailBlazer) and an Opel Astra GTC canvassing the streets of the land down under. The Colorado 7 is due to launch very shortly and fill a long-standing gap in Holden’s SUV lineup while the Astra coincides with Opel’s Australian renaissance.
The GM Authority Take
Seems like the Chevy SS is getting ready to grab Dodge’s Charger by the horns.

Ive heard that the caprice ppv will be sold the the public and the ss will come in a police package as well
That’s gotta be a crock, since the Caprice will most definitely sell in fewer numbers than the new Impala and be more expensive and outdated to boot. But I can see the SS being sold to the cops. Dangit; now I need to add more power to my Camaro SS.
I think they could have extended the wheelbase a touch and marketed the SS as the PPV. I can see the current Caprice becoming outdated very soon.
Likely wrong on both counts.
Why would the SS need the 9C1 when the PPV is already there and already equiped with the 9C1?
Why would the Caprice be available to the public when the SS has already been confimed for public consumtion?
Do you have any more pics? I wanted to see a side view, camo or not.
This months car driver tested the caprice ppv at the end of the article they mention the ss becoming a police car last months motor trend makes it sound like will see a regular caprice or the ss will also come with a v/6 as well
This car is a fail w/out awd as an option.
Reminds me of the FWD-only Impala..
No rear wing? excellent!
