Second Chevy Cruze Recall Is Smaller, Involves Rear-End Welds

In announcing the first recall for 413,418 Chevy Cruzen over the car’s engine cover, General Motors also released information about a separate safety recall for the compact sedan.

Affecting only 249 Cruzen, this second recall is of a substantially smaller scope than the first and involves inspecting welds in the rear compartment for proper application. Omitted and partially-completed welds “may affect the fuel tank strap secondary brackets attachment to the floor structure and a sub assembly to the rear floor pan.

The inspection itself only takes a few minutes and, if found, the repair is expected to take about three hours. GM will inspect the cars included in the first recall to assure proper alignment of the welds.
