Poll: Which Do You Prefer – Opel Astra Or Buick Verano?

Last week, Opel announced the final addition to its Astra range — the Astra sedan. And while we don’t yet have any photos of the front of the new car, we already know that the compact sedan’s rear does not sport the styling element called “assbrows” (by The GM Authority crew) not seen on the Astra’s trans-Atlantic twin, the Buick Verano. That, and the Astra will have a total of seven (count ’em, seven) engines to choose from.

So, cast your vote for your favorite Delta II-based premium sedan in the poll below and keep those comments civilized!

  1. I prefer the Opel Astra it seems more youthful 🙂

  2. Would like to see those tail lights from the opel on the buick as a mid cycle update

    1. Now that I can see the two cars side by side I believe that the Opel lights would not fit well with Buicks design queue. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t like to see LED lights on Buicks or any other GM car or truck. As a matter of fact I think GM should push LEDs on every vehicle they manufacture. but that’s just me 🙂

  4. That’s exactly why they only show the back on the Opel, because it is cleary better than the Buick. Who wants “ass-brows” on their car anyways? No other Buick is like that, they all have chrome outlines instead.

  5. is there option for both?? I like both it has it’s own personality…

  6. I like the Buick verano’s interior much more than the Astras because of quiet tuning and ect. But the Buick could do with some LEDs and HIDs…

  7. Get rid of the assbrows on the Buick
    Add HIDs

  8. The Verano is cool man – the “assbrows” comment was funny once…let it die

    1. It’s not about being funny, it’s about their actual presence on the car…

      1. Agreed! Three fairly simple changes would make me buy this vehicle:

        – Get rid of ASSBROWS (deal with it)
        – Add HIDs (premium product, no?? Impala is getting them….)
        – Change that god-awful interior LED color from aqua to anything else, ESPECIALLY on a car like the Regal GS!! Hell, give us the opportunity to select the color (ala MyFord Touch)

          1. I thought so too but ppl in motortrend thought it was assbrows…. but to be honest both have their own personality in it…. Opel is aiming for being youthful and sporty so that’s why it looks more insignia-Regal-esque in the back and the verano is aiming for being luxury looking(Lacrosse inspired)…. Now if this was a new Cruze then it’d be another story.

            1. Perhaps, but consider that both the Astra and Verano were conceived and designed way before the new-found alignment of Buick and Opel… So I wonder how the truly integrated models of each brand will look like in 5-7 years.

            2. Hey, I don’t mind the assbrows. I find them visually attractive, actually. But seeing the tail lamps of the Astra sedan doesn’t make me appreciate them.

            3. ALEX, SO WE DO LIKE THIS CAR…..I HAVE TO DECIDE BETWEEN THIS AND ATS…..FOR THE MONEY, VERANO SEEMS ABOUT THE SAME THING IN MANY WAYS…..WILL DRIVE ATS AND SEE……

  9. I think it’s the engine from the regal turbo actually.

  10. But if Chevrolet is listening and looking, they need to put that engine on the Cruze!!

  12. Astra. The ‘assbrows’ just look weird (and a few reviews have said as much).

  13. I like the Buick better and yes I like the brows. Would like to the trunk lid without the crease from the Opel to the Buick. Also maybe the center mounted tri-shield emblem become a bit smaller and maybe more classier

  16. I love the arse of the Opel compared to the Verano. Even still, I am a proud 2016 Buick Verano owner and love the car! I removed the badging to get rid of the overuse of chrome and it looks very clean!
