Every once in a while, you come across something and ask “why, oh why?”. That’s exactly what we were left with after watching this music video by a band (aptly) named Cribshitter. So why did we watch this enigma of a video accompanied by a melody that’s part dustup, part country? Because the Mint Car in question is none other than a wood-paneled ’95 Buick Roadmaster wagon… complete with matching floor mats, Vista Dome (sunroof), power locks, Concert Sound, power steering, cruise control… oh heck, just watch:
The GM Authority Take
We still don’t entirely know whether to classify this as awesome… or awful. But how far has Buick come from making wood-paneled land barges!

Pretty sure it’s the latter, being awful..
I’m with Hunter. WTF is this? Art?
I’m gonna have to go with awesome. Not because it’s art (which it is) but because of that Roadmaster. It IS a MINT CAR (as long as we define “mint” as it’s condition). It reminds me of a 1983 Olds Delta 88 that I drove for 11 years. That was the same color interior and same matching floor mats!! (The Olds’ interior was crushed velvet in that “burgundy” ). I drove that Olds into the dirt. When I finally junked it, the car was 18 yrs. old and had 150K miles. Low by today’s standards.
To quote Bill Joel, “The good old days weren’t always so good.”
So art is taking a gas pump and doing humping motions toward your car..?
Art is anything that motivates you to make art.
Just because its big don’t assume its awful on fuel. Two years ago I drove a 94 Caprice wagon for the better part of 3 months. I averaged 23-24 mpg with a 60/40 split of highway/city driving. Not too bad for how big that car is. The LT1 was an impressive engine.
I’m unfamiliar with the LT1 designation. Is that the 3800 engine?
No, the LT’s were V8’s; a predicessor to the LS V8’s.
Something specials in the air when these monsters from another time return to life!
The music…was not music…and the video was rubbish, but the car was a gleaming specticle of awesomeness. 🙂 I love my Roadmaster, (I have a Sedan) but that wagon was pretty sweet. 🙂
Howdy – I created this song and video and I wanted to give a wholesome and hearty thank you to all who watched and commented on it. The Mint Car is still roarin’ along, getting roughly 19 mpgs, and in need a car wash and wax job. I wanted to clear up an error somebody pointed out on Jalopnik. Mint Car does not have rack & pinion steering as sung on the video. It turns out it has a recirculating ball system. Looks like this songwriter needs to get his own balls recirculated and know his ride better!
As always,
