Chevrolet Volt Outpacing Corvette In Sales

Last week, we covered the increasing Californian sales of the Chevy Volt. This week, we’ve got an even more interesting fact about Volt sales. Believe it or not, the Chevy Volt is outselling perhaps one of the most famous Chevy names of all – The Chevrolet Corvette. The Volt is set to exceed its 2011 sales number near the end of this month, and may approach 20,000 units by the end of the year. Just over 7,000 units have been sold so far this year, compared to the Corvette, which has tallied just 5,547 sales this year, despite a marketing campaign for the new, limited production 427 Convertible.
Although it may seem like an apples vs. oranges comparison, there must be some reasoning behind this. We think that the can’t-come-soon-enough release of the next-gen C7 Corvette is much to blame for the subpar sales. On the other hand, we think that the Volt is finally gaining the respect it deserves in the marketplace, as it’s been a “political punching bag” since its launch. Let’s hope that this high sales pace will continue for the Volt.
C7 is due next year.
Just sayin’.
Volt starting $31.645
Corvette coupe starting $49,600
Just sayin’ 🙂
Why is it significant that the “Volt outsells the Corvette”? Doesn’t EVERY GM car line outsell the Corvette? The Corvette isn’t supposed to be a “volume” seller, and considering the Obamanized economy and the fact that the C7 comes out next year, it’s no surprise that Corvette sales are down. Really dumb article… Write something when the Volt outsells the Cruze!
It’s just a milestone for the Volt that has been pointed out. There is nothing wrong with it in my opinion, it’s just showing that the Volt is becoming normal. (By the way, I saw my first Volt on the road yesterday.) 🙂
@Bill you don’t find this milestone to be even remotely noteworthy… or interesting?
Is it “noteworthy” that the Volt also is outselling Ferarri? Of course not! It’s just a meaningless “fact”. I’d expect this kind of “sensationalism” on the local evening news… but you guys can do better!
