Chevrolet Camaro Assumes Role As WTCC Safety Car (Video)

When you a Chevy Camaro, the first thing that comes to mind is never the World Touring Car Championship, minus that one time Rob Huff bought one. Usually, it has something to do with smoking the rear tires, filling up at the gas pump, or embarrassing a nearby Mustang owner. So what is a 2012 Camaro SS doing at the WTCC?

Camaros have been used as pace cars for NASCAR since the Flintstones were racing dinosaurs. But at the WTCC, the Camaro is being used as the safety car as well, in mostly stock form (aside from some unnecessary safety precautions). It sticks out from the rest of the cars on the road because it has about twice the cylinders, 40 percent more horsepower, weight and overall sex appeal. Check out the video below, and tell us if you like flashing lights on the roof of a Camaro SS herding a flock of touring cars.

@MW Exactly! I will try telling the cop that next time he pulls me over.

“Officer, faster is safer. I saw it in a video on GMA.”
