2013 Chevy Spark Configurator Is Finally Online

In building our Spark, we picked a 2LT (LTZ is not available on the Spark) in Salsa (red) with the (four-speed) automatic transmission and light titanium leatherette with silver trim for the cabin, bringing the MSRP to $16,720 — or the starting point of a bare-bones Chevy Cruze. All Sparks are powered by the same 1.2 liter Ecotec four-banger making 82 horsepower.

The three available trim levels and their prices are:

  1. I only got $16,990

    1. Sorry, that was my fault. I used the Black Granite color without the $75 engine block heater to get to 16,915. Updated the price to reflect Salsa and no engine block heater.

  2. I understand the concept of a city car: cheap, small, few features, and good on gas. Given that, I won’t complain about things like the lack of wood trim or fancy electronics. What does concern me, though, is the lack of much finesse. 6 speed transmissions would have worked great, rather than old-school 4 speed autos and 5 speed manuals. Also, GM should at least offer a smaller engine that is a TDI (gas or diesel) that gets similar power with better efficiency, for a small premium. On top of that, this is just about the most un-American American car that is on the road. I will pass

    1. There is no such thing as a “small premium” for a diesel engine / fuel system.

  3. Four-speed automatic?

    1. I agree. Why only four?

      1. My 1995 Buick Regal only has a four-speed automatic. It works well if you drive in a city where the max speed is less than 40 MPH. On the highway, I can maintain 70 MPH with only 1700 RPM, so more gears will allow me to keep at 70 MPH with less than 1000 RPM (and burn less gas), where most 4-cylinder engines cannot even idle (too low).

  4. Golf cart anyone, sorry this should be making 105 HP at least, to peak my interest. I believe sales will reflect this as well… These are finally making it here but with no fan fair. Most people won’t even know they exist because there is no precedence for this type of vehicle from Chevy; the Metro is long forgotten and if it wasn’t people remember what a pile of junk it was…

  5. You can’t put a diesel in a car named Spark. You could if they had named it Compression. Ignition system humor.
