Looking at this derilict 1972 Chevrolet Nova in this episode of Big Muscle, you probably never would have guessed that it possessed the power to chew up any given $500,000 hypercar and spit it out without so much as a second thought. That’s because this particular Nova possesses an intoxicating, nearly incomprehensible 1,160 horsepower courtesy of a twin-supercharged LS2 V8 engine, setting a new standard for “sleeper” cars everywhere. Though if the looks throw you off, you’ll definitely hear it coming.

I completely understand the concept of a sleeper car and this car is amazing. However, I just couldn’t stomach myself enough to drive such an ugly car. Give me an SS with that engine.
It’s a sleeper for about a 1/2 second. The tubbed out rear wheels and traction bars are a dead giveaway. Still, it’s a beast, albeit an ugly one!
You guys are too modern! Forty years ago, this was a real beauty! Nowadays, none of the cheap modern imports can beat this, let alone the attempt to handle over 1000 Hp without being torn apart.
I had a 1975 Chevy Vega Kammback wagon that I sold in 1986 to a racer who swapped in the V8 and drivetrain from his crashed Camaro. No import could beat that little wagon!
American iron is still the best in the world!
Actually, in comparison I would bet my life that cars today are a lot more reliable than that Nova. Hell, almost any car today is much more reliable than cars from the past. 80’s and older in my opinion. Who needs all that power anyway? Give me a Corvette and I’m happy. It’s faster than 95% of the daily drivers we see each day when out and about.
I’d also like to point out that this car probably takes a lot of maintenance and upkeep. I could be wrong, though.
