Spied: 2014 Chevrolet SS Finally Paparazzi-ed

Automotive spy photographers live for moments when they come across a highly anticipated car, and when it comes to the 2014 Chevrolet SS, the wait has become fever pitched. And GM knows it. This is also why the automaker put a huge effort into not only keeping serious details about the Zeta-based rear-wheel-drive sport sedan related to the upcoming Holden VF Commodore a huge secret, and they also don’t want the looks of the car to spill out. You can see from the photos — which can be found on Automobile — the effort the development team put into cowling the vehicle.
All we can see is a pair of swollen exhaust tips — suggesting a small block V8 under the hood, which features a set of small extractor vents. It also appears as if the camouflage wrapping is stretched over a rear spoiler, with a mighty fine set of brakes behind the multi-spoke front wheels. From what we can tell, there is a 2014 Chevrolet Impala grille present, and Camaro-esque LED headlight. The stance of the car itself appears broad-shouldered and crouched forward, ready to pounce on unsuspecting Dodge Charger drivers and viciously eat them. Maybe. But even if the new addition to the portfolio isn’t here to make friends, the Chevy SuperSport will be in fantastic company with the next generation Corvette launching next year as well.

Why are tere people out there despising the fact that it is a rebadged Holden. It’s not like Holdens are sold here.
JustinF do you honestly think they would go through all this just to bring a Holden to the U.S and put a SS badge on it?
I don’t understand what the concern is with the SS being a Holden. The Commodore is a fantastic car in all of it’s versions – especially the hi pro versions like the HSV and RedLine series. As the very proud owner of an ’09 G8 I can personally confirm that Holden makes a great car. We should be just plain ecstatic that GM is leveraging their world wide operations to bring such a great car to the US.
So excited that GM is finally bringing a Zeta-based sedan to the U.S. as a Chevy.
I’d love it if GM also created a sport wagon, coupe and convertible based on the Chevy SS sedan, all with the same styling.
Yes, I realize the Camaro comes as a coupe and convertible on the Zeta platform, but its styling, interior, packaging, and image are not for me.
I’d prefer a grand touring coupe that follows the elegant lines of the sedan.
Also bring a civilian version of the redesigned Caprice sedan for public consumption.
GM 4 LIFE anti ford, toyota, honda subaru
This is super exciting!!!
I’d also like to know what’s sneaking around in the background of the 6th pic on the Automobile page…
Anyone made a pre order yet? ;^)
I think GM rebadging cars from their global operations is great, theres only a problem when the rebadged cars are being sold in the same place/region/country.
Its great way to reduce costs and provide unique cars all around the world and expand a brands reach.
am i the only person who noticed how wide the fenders bulge out to cover the wheels? this leads me to believe that this car may not just be a re-badge of the VF Commodore, but a full on re skin!
YES!! if it is, i may just bite! nothing against Australian styling; on the RWD cars at least, Chevy is just too “middle road” styling wise for me.
I think you are correct
I for one will be odering the holden bits from Australia and making it a Commodore… Oh GM dont even think about not bringing this car to Canada and I want a manual transmission…
