Poll: What Do You Think Of The Name “Opel Adam”?

What was codenamed Junior and rumored to be brought to market as the Allegra turned out to be named Adam. For the uninitiated, we’re referring to the upcoming city car from GM’s European arm.

Coincidentally, Adam happens to be the name of the founder of Opel — Adam Opel, who founded the company in 1862 and first produced sewing machines. As it were, some expected that Opel would reserve the Adam name for a flagship-type model above the Insignia. After all, it’s the founder’s first name we’re talkin’ about.

And that brings us to the question of the week: do you think Adam is a good name for an Opel model? As you vote in the poll below, keep in mind the awkward silence that may arise when a 28-year-old guy tells his friends, “Yeah, I love driving my Opel Adam.”

  1. Reminds me of Ferrari Enzo. Except it’s not a Ferrari. And Adam < Enzo.

  5. current trending for small cars is to use names like this, personally i like it, think of it as a pet, part of the family, as i would think this is aiming at the second family car market, but pricing will reveal this, it will be cheaper than the mini and hopefully the fiat 500, i think they need to beat the panda with this one, will be interesting to see where this ends up in the marketplace, and i hope eisenach do a good job on building it.
