OnStar RemoteLink Serves Up 14 Million Interactions

Since the debut of OnStar RemoteLink in 2010, the app has delivered over 14 million interactions (such as checking tire pressure and gas levels as well as unlocking/locking doors) from its more than 821,000 active users. The app, which was originally called OnStar MyLink in 2010, was the first mobile app in the automotive industry and has since added navigation features and expanded to BlackBerry devices from the original iPhone and Android platforms — and we think a version for Windows Phones isn’t far off. And the telematics company has ventured into the wild and wacky world of dubstep, as well.

The GM Authority Take

14 million (Million!) interactions is quite the feat. Divide that by 2 years and you get over 19,170 interactions per day! And while there vehicles that remain incompatible with the RemoteLink app for whatever reason, the numbers speak for themselves here.

  1. I went to Ed Morse in Fort Lauderdale the other day and spoke to three sales reps. Not one of them mentioned a word about On-Star. I thought that was just terrible, since for me, the single thing that makes me want my wife to drive a GM vehicle is because of On-Star and the safety aspects it represents.

  2. Seems like GM has some work to do in training its dealers how to sell products properly….

  3. We have some new interactive showroom displays coming soon that will elevate the consumer awareness and sales rep knowledge of OnStar and related technologies.
