OnStar Brings RemoteLink App To BlackBerry Devices

After making its RemoteLink smartphone application available for the Apple iOS and Google Android platforms, OnStar has just announced the availability of the app for the BlackBerry ecosystem.

RemoteLink allows for users to perform remote commands (such as remote start and door lock/unlock) and check the status of their vehicle (fuel economy, remaining fuel range, tire pressure, oil level). Most recently, the app has received a navigation component that allows users to find a destination on their devices and send it to their vehicle.

The version of RemoteLink for BlackBerry was built using HTML5 technology and is available now in the BlackBerry App World. It’s compatible with the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930 devices.

The GM Authority Take

This is great! Now, the only thing remaining for OnStar is to build an app for the growing Windows mobile platform — something that’s on the telematics company’s list of things to do as far as we know.
