Pardon us while we clean up the drool spilling out of our mouths. There’s just something so eccentric, so practical and so appealing about a rear-wheel-drive performance station wagon. And we’re not talking about the Cadillac CTS-V überwagon. We’re talking about a possible wagon variant of the Chevrolet SS performance sedan, and even the oft-rumored ute version that would revive the Chevy El Camino by body style if not by name.
While it’s been the latest buzz that these two SS variants are possible to compliment the sedan, it wasn’t until today that Australia’s Drive reported that thousands of Holden VF Commodores will be exported to the United States next year, while hinting about possible exports of the wagon and ute versions. So which one are you hoping for? The Chevy SS sedan, the wagon, or the ute?

Does this mean the Zeta platform is going global?
Going Global? Not really.
Expanding to new markets via a limited run? Yes
Would love to see all three
Wagon want. Downloaded catalog last night. They have the V8 in stick and auto.
Wonder if my Chevy guy will take an order now.
If I had to pick, ute.
Is this going to be an LS2 or LS3 ? Stick wagon, yes ! Stick Ute, maybe
Give me the Ute!!
Stick wagon for sure! And if you can find a dealer that will take an order now, I am right behind ya!! =)
So the car itself will be called an SS? Is there more than one engine option, thus making it a natural SS? What if I want a Chevy SS RS SS?
Would the wagon be presumably called “Nomad”?
lots of suprises coming and chevy will fill all segments of the market remember how popular all three versions were back in the day?
JD it is so good to hear from you again. Does GM plan on taking the Zeta platform global? I know it needs to go on a diet but it seems to be a good platform. After all Holden spent over a billion dollars creating it 🙂
HA ha Very sneaky JD does that also apply to the Cruze?
Is it just me, or is anybody else wondering why they would put camo on a sprint cup stock car? Just leave off the decal wrap!! they’re all the same template body anyway!!
I know, right? But the face of the car is supposedly going to be somewhat of a surprise… and the 2013 Sprint Cup will have cars with slightly more real-looking stickers. Go figure.
A wagon would be nice, but I know a guy on Facebook who really wants a new-age El Camino.
