Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Runs 11.93 From The Factory

We know that the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 can thrash a track, as seen at the Nürburgring and Virginia International Raceway. But when it comes to a simple and straight quarter mile, the ZL1 shines as well, as official numbers put the 580-horsepower budget supercar at 11.93 seconds at 117 mph with the automatic. The manual transmission-equipped ZL1 was just a click slower at 11.97 @ 116, but we wager it’s much more engaging. Also, these times were recorded without racing slicks, though the video below shows that Chevy did test the pair of ZL1 Camaros with a set of drag radials. Notably, the NHRA requires a five-point roll bar for vehicles running 11.49 or quicker for vehicles to compete in sanctioned races, a time that could be achieved in a ZL1 easily with minor tweaks. Or you could just have Redline Motorsports tune it.
