Cadillac ATS Looks Even Better In Black

Cadillac recently posted some photos of its all-new ATS sport sedan doing some performance testing laps around the Atlanta Motorsports Park. The tester wore a black hue and it looks stunning — as the photos undoubtedly show; at the least, it’s better than the red that was used as the debut color, and better than the silver one we saw back in February. The only thing we don’t know is whether this ATS was painted in the standard Black Raven or the optional Black Diamond Tri-Coat.

  1. Don’t shoot me but my reaction to the lead picture was that the 2013 Chevrolet Traverse has a stylistically near identical radiator grill treatment.

    1. Yeah, I see it as well. Given that it was a totally different team of designers that penned both models, I’d attribute it to being an accident.

      1. Such a lovely car…….Verano still has a similar look……but ATS is still nicer…….a Cadillac!!!!

    2. OMG, youre right, sharp eye.

They should definitely change that as soon as possible, maybe at a refresh 2015.

  2. It still has some vertical lines that easily differentiate it from the Traverse. Plus it looks very good. No changes needed.

    1. Yes it looks decent, thats why Im not crying blasphemy, by change it I mean that it should be tweaked so it looks a little less like the traverse, dont mean a majjor overhaul of the grill. Sharing design bits between Chevy and Cadillac is not going to get Cadillac very far, and its something that can be very easily changed.

      1. Did some digging around. It’s not the same part. Just looks/seems that way.

  3. This color should definitely be used at launch!!! So gorgeous.

  4. Better than silver? God, just what the world needs…. another silver car. Shoot me now.

  5. I AGREE, THIS CAR IS STUNNING IN BLACK WOW!

  6. Saw it in black with the burgundy interior at the auto show-that’s the color. I never like the metallic rose red color they were pushing at launch. The black is gorgeous.

  7. Gorgeous. Absolutely the most gorgeous car Cadillac has released. Still needs a ATS-V AWD V8…

  8. I like the Thundergray that you guys have in your album I it the most. Doesn’t it kind of ruin the point of having Black diamond and onyx black if you can’t tell the difference?

    1. It’s easier to tell the difference in person than from pictures on a website.

    2. Lovely!!!! black diamond is stunning………I saw it on a CTS……

    3. Black diamond is $1k…that is why it is offered…Buick charges $200 for the same paint 🙂

    4. Hunter….$1k for paint…………………………..

  9. I would love to see it in Arctic/Summit White (a bright, high-gloss non-metallic white). I’m not a fan of White Diamond, or the $995 upgrade cost. A bright white on a smaller car with all that chrome would look nice.

    1. Marc, I agree 100% about the basic white…..I said the same thing before on an earlier discussion…..but, I bet Cadillac will not do it:)

    2. Marc, maybe next year Cadillac will FIANLLY add a few very nice colors free of charge….base white first off and then a great Hunter green or maybe a really sharp yellow…that Silver Coast is nothing more than champagne; a terrible choice for this car…ugh; bet the Summer gold will be gone although it is rather nice

  10. You are correct, Marc……………still no base white…wonder if Cadillac ever listens to our wants???

  11. Danny — I’m on the front lines selling these things — they don’t ask us for our thoughts. :-/

    1. Marc, got it; salesmen can only sell what they have…got it…it is a nice car…….I am talking about GMC…the people who chose colors, equipment, etc…………..

    2. Marc, how are sales going??

  12. We’re on the same page… No worries. I mean that GM never asks us for our opinions on anything — though I’m sure that everything that virtually all manufacturers do is commanded by “study groups”. They could just ask for our opinions every so often and save some money in the process.

    1. Marc….how are the sales doing for Cadillac? I hear the “new” DeVille is doing very well…how about ATS?

    2. MARC, what do think of the new ATS? I’ve seen one at dealer…nice but I wonder if the new Buicks aren’t just as nice in lots of ways……not sure which one I would get as I am considering a new GMC…..

      1. Danny — that’s the point! GM can outright dominate the luxury segment with Buick and Cadillac. The fact that you’re choosing between a Buick and a Caddy is great news, as GM gets the sale either way. The consumer wins, as does GM 🙂

        1. Alex, always been a GM fan, loved Cadillacs best…but that new Buick line is soooooooooooo nice! I am still so surprised that Cadillac is so stingy with standards; maybe next year it will be better as I’d like ATS coupe anyways. Just love your site, buddy 🙂
