While we don’t often find ourselves scouring Craigslist for oddball listings, there’s occasionally a posting that finds its way in the newswire, if nothing else for the sake of sensationalism. Today we have one of those to share.
What was once an ordinary 1994 Chevrolet Lumina was given some unique body work, morphing it from a mini van to mini-van-ute-mutant-thing with the profile of an enormous dustbuster. The transformation was enough for the vehicle to be nicknamed “El Lumino,” and is currently for sale in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The price? $1,395. That’s a steal for such a conversation piece, and what the listing describes as “rare”.

OMG I am at a loss for words
Ha, I just saw a 2011 Opel Insignia for sale in Illinois imported from Germany.
Whoa, really? Do you know what kind of engine the imported Insignia is cradling?
Just go to the “Motors > Cars and Trucks” section of Ebay and look up “Opel Insignia”. It says it has the 2.0L Turbo, and it has the Opel grill and everything else that differs from the Buick.
Not the OPC 2.0L Turbo, the slower one, I meant to add.
It looks like it is a regal that some one changed a few parts to make it into an insignia. But they forgot to change the oil cap SAE 5w-30. And the us fed sticker. And the vin W04GX5GV7B1108843 is for a regal. 2011 regals were built in Germany before production was started in Canada.
Ah, good eye.
I’m going to show my age here and point out that GM already tried something like this as a concept.
Google “1988 GMC Centaur”
Well, the Lumina’s curvy styling is what reminded me of the Centaur.
OK, What does the second door handle do?
This use to be a minivan, the second handle was part of the sliding door. In other words it doesn’t do anything 🙂
It’s a Honda Ridgeline wannabe haha 🙂
We laugh at them now, but that 3.8 V6 was a horse, a lot of those vans had very very long lives.
Rare? What about unique, one of a kind, all original. I wish I had that kind of time to work on my cars!!! =) They must have really needed the space. I would really like to know what the thought process was on the project, and the catalyst for making it happen. =)
