Moments ago, we published a video of a pair of Lingenfelter-tuned ZL1 Camaros strapped up to the dynamometer. And while it was entertaining, we couldn’t visualize how fast these machines could fire away in a straight line. Now we can, as the yellow model from the previous video throttles the local drag strip.
The time? 10.79 seconds with a trap speed of 134.36 mph. A time so fast, it’s furious.
The improvements include the following: LPE CNC cylinder heads and GT9 camshaft with a 5% overdrive balancer 2.38 upper pulley, high flow intake and race filter plus a high capacity intercooler resovoir. Lingenfelter also applied larger injectors, voltage boosted stock fuel pump, VP MS 109-octane racing fuel, a custom calibration, and of course, Nitto NT05R drag radials. These upgrades translate to 720 hp at the wheels, and an alternative to Viagra.
If you’re curious, the other ZL1 from the dyno video pulled an 11.03 @ 130 mph, and we’ve provided the video for that one as well. This one features modifications including a 2.38″ 10 bolt pulley and hub, ported SC front cover and throttle body, LPE custom air intake, increased volume intercooler reservoir, 63 lbs/hr injectors, 109-octane race gas and race gas calibration, and Nitto NTO5R 305/45R18 rear tires on CCW drag-pack wheels. Curiously, LPE left the exhaust manifolds, catalysts and mufflers all stock.
