Chevrolet “SS Performance” Name Shows Up On OnStar Website

Evidence is mounting that the upcoming Chevrolet performance sedan will feature the letters “SS” in its name, somewhere. And no, it won’t stand for Schutzstaffel. A quick look at OnStar’s website reveals that a “SS Performance” model will be compatible with the OnStar RemoteLink app when it launches next year as a 2014 model. This comes to us after we were the first to report that General Motors filed a trademark application for the “SS” name.

The vehicle in question is expected to pick up where the beloved and short-lived Pontiac G8 left off, and will share architectural similarities with the 2014 Holden “VF” Commodore. And according to sources, we can expect it to be a leader in power output, coupled with a relatively low mass for its size, and the practicality of four doors. Everything else is a mystery at this point.

  2. You know, I saw this a month ago on the OnStar site and was like “wtf is this?”, but didn’t remember it until today and this post! Should have tipped you off back then!

They also have the ELR listed as a 2014 model under Caddy.

  3. I cannot wait for this super secret car to come out! It’s probably obvious now that it’ll be called the SS. Also, this article cleared things up because I thought the car was just going to be a rebadged G8, and the G8 kind of looks a wee bit outdated. So I was kind of dissapointed. But now it definitely seems like it will be a refreshed look and almost a completely new car in terms of looks. Again, can’t wait!!!

  4. Looks like the good people at OnStar have taken down the “2014” option altogether now.

Did you hear that?? That was the sound of someone getting fired… 🙁

  5. Sounds like something to get excited about, let’s hope the Ute is in the mix as well!! Like I said before, if Caddy can financially justify a sport wagon, then Chevy can justify a Ute (hell i’ll take an SS wagon if it comes down to it)
