Akerson: Next GM CEO Should Come From Within In “Two To Five Years”

As much as GM CEO Dan Akerson probably likes his job, he’s going to have to give up the helm someday. And when that day comes, Akerson hinted that the transition will be less of a shakeup than when he took over. The former naval officer hinted that he will probably hand his CEO hat to somebody internal such as North American President Mark Reuss or Vice Chairman Steve Girsky, and not somebody from outside of the business. Lastly, the timeframe where this is likely to happen will be somewhere between “two to five years” if everything goes as it should.
