All-New 2014 Chevrolet Impala Continues Its Testing

Here at GM Authority, we know a thing or two about the next generation Chevrolet Impala. For one, the replacement to the 7-year-old mobile sofa is expected to sport nearly identical dimensions as the current Buick LaCrosse. With that size will come a massive trunk, very ample rear leg room, and the GM Epsilon II platform. Pictured testing in the Great White North, the new Impala’s cowl gives very little away to prowling photographers, but we do see hints of LED lighting from the fog lamps. Will the Impala end up being a more imposing design of the new Chevy Malibu? Most likely, and that’s not exactly a bad thing.
Underneath the hood will be powertrains that will cover both performance and efficiency. On one end will be an eAssist configuration, possibly with a 2.5L Ecotec instead of the old 2.4L by the time this cruiser rolls out. There will also be a powerful 3.6L V6 for sure, and if we’re lucky, a 2.0L Ecotec Turbo. GM has already pooled the money into its Oshawa, Ontario and Hamtramck, Michigan facilities for its assembly.

I am glad. The current generation Impala just looks like a slab of rock, and quite frankly, is not built to a very high standard. The Epsilon II vehicles are very slick and handsome vehicles. Can’t wait for this.
ya but the impalla used to be a sport sedan id like it to go back to that. im not saying rwd but mabey a little stiffer suspension and alot more aggresive design not just a xts with a malibu clip
The Impala also started it’s life as a Coupe! 🙂

for some reason some of the pics just looks like this car is a bigger malibu
Interior looks like it had major improvements, the steering wheel looks like it’s a borrowed, rounded off version of the one in the Cadillac XTS. Hard to tell how aggressive the front will be but the rear looks pretty tame.
Way overdue for a refresh.
I test drove the current model about 2 years ago when I was in the market. For the size you would thing it would be a good driving car. But it is not. New model is really needed.
Where is the next Voltec Chevrolet sedan? The Volt is in a class by itself, so Chevy must produce a brother sedan that can carry five with more trunk space. Besides, eAssist is not such a forward step in electrification as the EREV technology. The new Impala wil fit the Volt drivetrain better and have more space for the fifth passenger.
very true danny aswell as having a convertible come on chevy make something to compete with the charger however don’t do the retro muscle thing
The Buick LaCrosse does not have a big trunk.
The Cadillac XTS does have a large trunk.
The new Chevy Impala will have a ? trunk.
I’d say a big-ass trunk lol
