Opel’s Bochum, Vauxhall’s Ellesmere Plants To Close In 2015

GM Europe CEO Karl-Friedrich Stracke did say that both the Bochum, Germany and the Ellesmere Port plant in England  would remain open until at least 2014. Go another year into the future, and both plants are planned to close, joining the Antwerp, Belgium plant on the list of shuttered GM Europe facilities.

Where will Opel and Vauxhall get their vehicles? Opel’s plant in Gliwice, Poland, is scheduled to increase capacity by 25 percent. But by 2016, GM wants to import up to 300,000 cars to Europe from Mexico, Korea and even China. Until then, we can probably expect more losses from the division.

  1. Hardball negotiation tactics…

bet an agreement that is very favorable to GM will be formed in negotiations in 2014 that will keep both plants open.
