Giant Blob Of Chrome Erected In Switzerland In Honor Of Louis Chevrolet

How American is Chevrolet? Bah. Louis Chevrolet himself was from France, right? Wrong. He grew up in France, but he was actually born in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. To commemorate that fact, sculptor Christian Gonzenbach created what you see before you to celebrate the fact that Chevrolet is in fact… Swiss.

The chrome bust, which was was selected by an international jury from among four finalists and was commissioned by General Motors, measures five meters (16.4 feet) tall. Gonzenbach’s work will remain in the eloquently titled park, Parc de l’Ouest, as a permanent tribute to the Swiss man that co-founded one of the biggest brands in the world today.

    Never the less, art is subjective. Personally, I’d prefer to see the statue in the flesh as statue works aren’t easily repersented in 2D mediums (film, photos, paintings etc.).
