Corvette To Be First American Brand Inducted Into Sebring Hall Of Fame

This Sunday, March 18, the American Le Mans Series and FIA Endurance Championships will simultaneously begin their 2012 racing seasons with the waving of the green flag at the legendary 12 Hours of Sebring at Sebring International Raceway in Florida. And with them, another Corvette Racing season. But before that happens, there are some formalities. And awards are to be handed out.

Today, Corvette Racing will be honored into the Sebring Hall of Fame. Not only is it significant for the team, but it’s also the first American manufacturer’s team to do so.

Over the years, 231 Corvettes have competed in the 12 Hours of Sebring since 1956, and 24 of them have scored class or category victories on the 5.2-mile circuit, which at one point was a training runway for B-17 bomber pilots during World War II.
