What’s The Biggest Difference Between New GM And Old GM?

The balance sheet.

General Motors hasn’t been able to enjoy the benefits associated with a clean, healthy balance sheet in years, if not decades. In other words, General Motors has everything it needs to be a prosperous, healthy, and class-leading company. And that’s really refreshing for long-time GM fans and enthsiasts, especially compared to GM’s uncertain financial status years ago.

  1. I believe GM game the engineers a little more wiggle room. I remember Bob Lutz talking about how GM had way too many anylists and corporate decisions regarding their cars. In short, the engineers couldn’t work to their potential.

GM finally realized that just because people want cheap cars, doesn’t mean they want bad quality cars. I’m glad the engineers were given more opportunity.
