GM Introduces First Fuel-Cell Powered Military Vehicle Fleet

Each branch of the United States military will begin testing a fleet of hydrogen-fuel-cell-powered Chevy Equinoxes for real world use. Because some day, we may see clean-energy-powered tanks. According to GM, the vehicles are being paid for by the Army Tank Automotive Research Development Engineering Center (TARDEC), Office of Naval Research and Air Force Research Laboratories (ONR) and Air Force Research Laboratories (AFRL).

  1. I dont why, but a “Green U.S Military” just seems laughable.

    1. I don’t. To me it means not letting the enemy cut off your supplies.

An Ambrams is useless if nobody will give you the fuel for it.

      1. Of course, its the right step and Im glad that the military is investing in advanced technology to keep its competitive edge. Most of our troops die when protecting convoys delivering oil, fuel is a liability and it would be any generals dream to get rid of it.

Its just that whenever I think of the U.S Military, I think of a big gas guzzling Humvee, and to imagine that Humvee as “green” just seems funny to me.

  2. Why do they use the last generation Equinox? Anyways, I kind of like those paint jobs.
