A woman driving a Chevy Camaro SS during last week’s Cars and Coffee in Dallas underwent a seizure, immobilizing her foot while on the throttle and leading to a crash into two Z06 Corvettes in a crowded parking lot. The Camaro reportedly first hit the blue C5 Z06 (which looks totalled) and continued pushing through into the yellow C6 Z06. In fact, the Camaro wanted to keep going and almost started doing doughnuts in the parking lot until a bystander reached into the cabin and shut the car off.
According to reports, the driver’s husband was riding shotgun while the couple’s two kids were in the back. The driver and husband were taken out of the car in neck braces and hospitalized, currently in unknown condition; the children were okay.
Camaro5 Forum member RobMorgan was in attendance at the Cars and Coffee and recounts the collision:
From the looks of it, the first vette is probably totaled. The [yellow] Z06 had minor damage, but the proud owner was pretty shaken up. From what I was told, the woman stayed on the gas full throttle just spinning until someone reached in and shut off the Camaro. Amazingly, no one was pinned or hurt. With the number of people around, I just don’t know how everyone was missed.
The GM Authority Take
This is a most unfortunate of events. We sincerely hope that the driver, passenger, and all human beings involved recover fully from the accident; it may not be the latest internet meme to look at the human side of events, but we are doing so regardless, as it’s important to remember what it’s all about.
Additionally, given that the wreck took place in a jam-packed parking lot, we’re glad that no-one else was hurt.
Here’s a video of the aftermath:
