If you though the Chevy Cruze couldn’t be sporty, look no further than Chevy’s World Touring Car Championship team, which utterly decimated the competition over the past two racing seasons. So with the Cruze’s success in the WTCC circuit, one can expect the same kind of touring car performance from the Sonic Aveo. And a team out of Switzerland has signed up for a pair of new Aveo hatchbacks built to racing specifications. Anybody else notice the RS-style front fascia?
Maurer Motorsport will utilize the new Aveo in the FIA European Touring Car Cup. Titled the “Aveo S1600,” the car has been built to Super 1600 regulations, and will compete in Division 2 during the ADAC Procar Series.

Sweeeeeet, yes please… Production variant. Wow…
This is so much better looking than the production version (besides the wheels). Why do they make the production version so much uglier? How they give it a ‘Hitler mustache’ instead of like the Cruze or how they make the head and tail lights not as sharp, making the rear of the hatchback look very attractive, or how the production version has huge ugly chunks of plastic for the fog lamps, instead of the very pretty honeycomb and V shaped fog lights. Can some one tell me since I don’t know much about marketing, how making a car look uglier and much cheaper looking than it could have been with slight changes (I’m pretty sure giving the car shaper looks wouldn’t change the price), make the car sell better?
@wisdom seeker According to this consumer study we did, making cars uglier makes them sell better. Just have a look at the Corolla. Instant success, wrapped up in a pretty package that doesn’t offend anyone. That’s according to us professional marketers. You uninitiated amateurs need to keep standing on the sidelines. 😉
