We’re huge fans of the real carbon fiber and aluminum paneling along with the red and saffron leather offerings in the upcoming Cadillac ATS. But will these sporty new-age appointments be enough? What other interior colors/accents do you think the ATS should offer? Our vote is in for blue leather and glossy piano black paneling.

I would love to see a rich, textured fabric with leaher-trimmed bolsters..probably in wheat color and wood and brushed metal trimwork
HAVE NOT SEEN DARK GREEN FOR A LONG TIME…MAYBE HERRINGBONE PATTERN CLOTH SEATING WITH MAPLE WOOD TRIM?
Cloth? Are you serious?
Yeah cloth won’t work on a luxury car
TRADITIONALLY, CADILLAC HAS USED WONDERFUL FABRICS WITH LEATHER….FOR BASE IT WOULD BE VERY NICE…LEATHER FOR OPTION…I HEARD FABRIC WOULD BE STANDARD ON ATS?
I hope the base does not come with vinly seating as in the SRX!!! I had a Cimmaron with Cashmere cloth and leather and it was very nice. It was a good car really and I drove it to 140k miles with minimal problems.
Vinyl looks like leather and lasts longer. What’s wrong with vynil? BMW, Audi, MB, and Volvo all offer it as the base trim on their vehicles, albeit named as different materials.
Cloth does not belong in a new-school Cadillac. This is a new-age brand, with new competitor, customers, and demographics. Leave cloth to Chevy (not even Buick).
My 17 year old Mercedes E300D has MB Tex, not leather. The leather always cracks and rarely ages well. The MB Tex is comfortable, the “weave” makes it breathe and it looks as good now as it did when new. Everyone thinks it’s leather, but it’s just standard vinyl – just excellent quality vinyl.
Yea, I would actually pick vinyl over genuine leather as long as the vinyl is high quality and looks like leather.
I looked at new Buick Verano with its ribbbon fabric and the leatherette bolsters….first class and yes, looks exactly like leather and has wonderful stitching all around.
Well, maybe some type of nice cloth insert on base model? i heard leather would be an option? I imagine it will be very handsome from photos whatever is offered….I really love the overall design …looks like a Cadillac should
The 2012 Cadillac CTS coupe comes standard with cloth seats in black or gray….perforated inserts…looks like a suede or velour ….maybe ATS will be the same on base????
Actually the CTS coupe comes standard with leatherette seats not cloth
Vic, five minutes ago I checked on build you own CTS coupe and it said cloth…….maybe a typo????
I checked on the Cadillac website and it literally said that the basic CTS comes in leatherette.
VIC, CHECKED AGAIN AND THE CTS COUPE SAYS FABRIC ON BASE COUPE AND LEATHERETTE ON SEDAN….STRANGE.
well it would just be kinda strange if you put cloth on these new modern Cadillacs.
Yes, I was surprised also…..last year it was leatherette, I know. I still wonder if base ATS will be some type of fabric and leatherette combo? We will see in a few months I guess when more info is available….
I think a lot of people would like it…especially down South with the heat and humidity and cold climates in Winter? I don’t mind it a bit…with leather bolsters would be cozy
Not in luxury cars man. Especially in south Florida, where I lived for the last few years, people live themselves some leather in their luxury.
I think the simple answer to the leather versus cloth debate is to have heated and cooled seats. That way both cold and warm/humid climates can be mitigated with perforated leather. Comfy seats if you’ve never tried them. I tested a Jag XJ-L for a weekend and loved its cooled seats in the hot desert.
Todd…..I bet the option for cooling will be there on this car…….I still think the base will be simple but nice. Depends on what the entry-level price is and what is offered…..Hope we are told soon!
Yes, a lot of people insist on leather and that is fine. I just wonder if ATS will use leatherette or cloth for the base to keep price lower? No matter what, I am sure the ATS will be very special….I know it will be a nice ride. Florida????? Wow, too hot for me!
But then the point is why Cadillac never thought of a feature that when the sun hits the leather it will automatically cools it down like how Bimmers and Benz has it though.
THE CADILLAC SITE HAS ADDED NEW VIDEOS AND PHOTOS OF THE ATS…THERE IS ALSO A PHOTO OF INTERIOR IN THE CASHMERE COLOR…IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY OR ZOOM IN, YOU WILL NOTICE A BASKETWEAVE-TYPE UPHOLSTERY FOR INSERTS….INTERESTING……COULD IT BE SOME FABRIC?????
I love the red, but any color with the glossy piano black paneling. I don’t like wood. Too old fashioned and non-performance. Would you put wood in a Vette?
But then again, would you put wood on BMW and MB?
Yes. Both offer various “woods” in their interiors. I say offer wood, metal, plastic (piano black), and fabric (Alcantara). Let the customer pick and choose.
Yes, sounds like a nice variety for once…..I am wondering what the base interior is? i see buick lacrosse has fabric standard! Glad there is genuine wood…my last DeVille had that, not plastic. I am anxious to see what the car looks like in person and the available colors….do we know what they are yet?
Dan, the colors haven’t been released yet. But rest assured that as soon as they are, you’ll find out about it here 🙂
Yes, sir….your site is the best….look at it every day….I suppose the same colors as CTS for base….would like to see white as standard….probably not though…..the Platinum Ice I for extra $$$? Keep up your superb work, Alex
Alex….do you think there will be some special ATS-specific colors coming out such as a British racing green or a yellow? With everything new it should be a very cool car!
The alcantara suedelike fabric sounds nice….is that optional or on base with leather trim? I do think that upgraded vinyl might be fine….the leather on my first Cadillac started to rot and crack over time
Alex….yes, I bet there will be an alcantara-type fabric of some kind available…..I have heard caron fiber also on this site mentioned; I suppose wood or metal but don’t know how much choice will be offered.
You can get wood in both of these cars as well as metal
All the colors are there. They just need to let people mix n match interior colors with the trim pieces. I don’t like carbon fiber so I’d prefer the red leather with the white trim or the piano black trim. Id also go for the tan/neutral leather with the black leather dash with wood trim there. I have mixed feelings on the coco/cashmere and I couldn’t handle all black on any car in the Michigan summer where it reaches 95 with 90% humidity sometimes which completely sucks. I don’t think Caddy would experiment with blue leather although it’s a good idea.
Yes, blue, green, or red would be nice options instead of gray!!!!!!! It would make Cadillac more special again…used to be a lot of colors were available. I remember a friend’s mother had a red Cadillac with red plaid cloth upholstery with red leather trimwork….was very sharp really. When Seville first came out, velour cloth was standard and it was very elegant….Lots more options were available in the old days, I guess
I’d like to see Alcantara inserts as an option to match the leather trim around the seats – probably as part of a sport package. I’d also like to see matte wood trim similar to what Audi does in its A7 or A8 or a black stained wood similar to the Anthracite wood trim offered by BMW.
I demand an ATS interior to be fashioned from the skin of my defeated enemies.
+1
Have YOU considered the benefits of shrink-wrapped vinyl?
Becasue I think it would look nice on you and keep you from drying out. 😉
Its fine that Cadillac should offer wood interiors for those that want it. However, Cadillac should also offer futuristic, cutting edge interiors with a perfomrance feel without wood for those of us who are not tied into the “luxury must have wood” mindset.
Or cadillac can offer carbon fiber..
YES I HAVE HEARD CARBON FIBER FOR THE RED…VERY EURO
That would be exotic.
I applaud Cadillac for the overall interior design. The materials look first rate- love that it has REAL wood and a wrapped dash. Also, like the side bolsters on the bench in the back seat- nice touch. My family had a 7-series with a creamy white leather, everything else black, and walnut trim- would be first class on the ats. Also, wish they had a chocolate leather with a black dash.
My biggest reservation on this new ATS is that the side profile is just too boring. Even the XTS feeds more emotion that this. Granted, I have not seen the ATS in person. The A5 is dull in pics and I love its line on the road.
Brian…great thoughts…I think there may be a saddle-color leather available,,,,it was paired with the black diamond paint at the Detroit auto show I think……It does appear there will be quite a few available choices…..Surprised they are offering red…have not see anthing other than gray, black or cashmere forever!
