Chevy Tru 140S, Code 130R Are Huge Parts Of An Even Bigger Experiment (Video)

Chevrolet captured the attention of journalists from all over the globe, and the interest of the thousands upon thousands of public attendees during the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan. There was a reason it did. Aside from their amazing design efforts in the Tru 140S and Code 130R concepts, there’s huge production potential in these rakish rides — and that’s if they haven’t already begun engineering them. These vehicles are also part of GM’s social experiment to win the love of millennials across North America, and have appropriately categorized the vehicles as “Youth Concepts”. Why? You can see for yourself in the video below.

  1. “All I can tell you is that if there’s a way to do it Chevrolet will find it.”

That’s what I want to hear. Go Chevy! Go GM!

  2. I think it’s fare to say the demographic for these should be mIllenials but it will reach much deeper into the Gen X generation as well, this will be the actual generation purchasing these cars. Great video, I feel I understand these vehicles much better.

  3. I saw the Scion FR-S yesterday at the Houston Auto Show. It wasn’t just the vehicle that struck me, but also in the way it was being marketed. The Scion rep (one of those nice-looking auto show “actors”) drew a rather large gathering of young people closely around the car. She then engaged them in the discussion, handing out inexpensive prizes to the kids that answered her questions correctly (simple things that just checked that they were listening and remembering small details on what she said). Of course this got me to thinking about what GM is doing with the 130R and 140S. The FR-S is the car I would have built — RWD but with more of the futuristic feel of the 140 — and, of course, a back seat to show it off to friends. So Scion is already coming out with something that GM is considering. This is THE problem with GM. Why can’t they see it?
