Update: Cruze Production To Resume Monday, Not Thursday

Contrary to previous reports indicating that Cruze production was to resume during the third shift on Thursday (Dec. 15th), GM Authority has learned that manufacturing will not resume until Monday, December 19th.

While The General has solved the strut-related issue that caused the suspending of manufacturing, it doesn’t have enough non-defective struts on hand to begin full-scale production. As such, the strut supplier is shipping a batch of struts to GM’s Lordstown plant in Ohio — which are due to arrive monday.

No word yet on whether Verano production will be affected by the shortage of the “good” strut unit.

  1. Can’t help wondering what this means for those of us with the “old” struts in their cars. My 2012 Cruze Eco was groaning 2 days after we took delivery. The dealer replaced the right front strut with what is likely to be another defective unit! Not good.

  2. the quality issue was a popping sound out of the strut, this has been solved and parts are in lordstown, as far as verano the carpeting from the supplier struck with a fire at its plant is the reason for verano adjustment in production. both issues are solved. normal production issues that happen, this as i see has seen way too much traffic on the web, plants are brought up and down all the time for various reason, this actually helped year end inventory and will not effect decembers numbers maybe january but with overtime this can be overcome.

  3. We have had the noisy strut issue since we took delivery on Dec. 30. Dealers will not fix the problem per GM’s bulletin document ID 2751963 (#PI0645). I am a retired GM salaried employee and am totally disgusted with this car and the lack of response from GM. Same old Company we all are familiar with. Nothing has changed as far as I can tell. This new car experience is ruined.
