UAW Pickets GM Orion Assembly Plant

Over the summer, we informed you that LINC logistics workers — represented by UAW Local 5960 — planned on striking GM’s Orion Twp assembly plant due to wage disputes. The laborers, who are not directly employed by GM, make $9 an hour and no health benefits. Since then, labor negotiations were set in place, but the workers have recently rejected a labor proposal, and talks seem to be dead in the water.

As a result, the UAW-represented workers took a stand and picketed their employer, LINC, at the Orion assembly plant last Friday. If an agreement cannot be quickly reached, production of the Buick Verano and Chevrolet Sonic may be affected to a degree.

  1. Now really….the UAW is slipping further and further into my bad books. They are struggling for relevance and it’s showing.

  2. How can any company have the guts to pay any employee slave wages of $9 per hour with no benefits? I am ashamed of my company if that is all they think of their employees.

    1. Companies are in business to make money, period! If workers don’t want what they’re being offered then they don’t have to accept it… no one is twisting their arms to take what they’re offered.

If workers would shove disingenuous union parasites out the door and negotiate on their own, stand on their own two feet, then maybe companies would be able to pay them more.

Union “bosses” (parasites) stay at luxury hotels to the tune of as much as $1500.00- $2000.00 a night sometimes, during conventions (at the expense of the worker, of course) While workers are lucky to stay at Roach Hotel with sheets that get changed once a week… if they’re lucky.

However, this isn’t the Soviet Union where companies are owned by the government… at least not yet. Although, if GM keeps bending over for the unions and our current lot of Washington thieves then they may very well be either owned by unions and government, or they will once and for all completely disappear.

I love GM products… it would be a shame to watch them continuously bent over by UAW thugs.

Because of the very government who backs those union leeches, there are people who would LOVE to have those $9.00 an hour jobs right now… that is without having to pay unions for their particular brand of extortion… uh, I mean “support”!

Get over it… if workers don’t want the job, then they don’t have to take it… period! Again, when workers stop using unions’ supposed “support” and costing GM ridiculous amounts of money, then maybe GM can afford to pay them much better wages.

I DO INDEED feel sorry for workers who are consistently led around by union thugs [at their own expense], and just like promising politicians, never realize that golden carrot unions and those left-wing socialist government “comrades” dangle in front of their faces… continuously keeping them enslaved on “Uncle Sam’s Plantation!”

Workers, please wake up to union lies and their games. And, please, hang in there, GM!

      1. You do realize that the workers aren’t picketing GM, right? They are merely on GM grounds.

  3. @ Karl and anyone else

Yes, $9 is low, especially with no benefits. You must understand that small cars like this don’t have much room for profit. You can either pay American workers $9 an hour, or have the car made in Mexico. You don’t have much choice. These cars sell for too cheap for LINC to pay them much, and the employees knew that when they signed up for the job.

Every other car in the Sonics class is made in Mexico.

  4. Richard, give your head a shake, what about the people who make the 9 dollars an hour do you think they are stuggling? They have nothing to lose but a shitty paycheck, no great loss, I guess anyone trying to make a living is in your BAD BOOKS, you are stuggling for INTELIGENCE and its showing !

  6. The good news is that since nobody is buying Gubmint Motos anymore, everyone is still safe!

PS: Buy Toyota. Apparently non-union workers know how to put on brake pads, and their cars don’t spontaneously combust either. And if the wages are the issue, hire mexicans. They work.
