Today’s reports come forward saying that several unnamed insiders have hinted that GM is very close to finishing a solution to the Chevy Volt’s spontaneous combustion issue after it’s been involved in a major collision. The fix calls for reinforcements to the cooling system and other areas around the vehicle’s battery pack, plus lamination of electric circuitry. The bill is said to total around $9 million, or roughly $1,000 per Volt. In the meantime, concerned Volt owners can trade in their plug-in vehicle for a fire-breathing ZR1, if they so choose.
