Ad Break: Buick LaCrosse And The OnStar RemoteLink App

What’s the difference between a Lexus ES350 and the Buick LaCrosse? Only one of them offers a way to lock/unlock the vehicle, activate the horn/lights, and remote start thanks to the OnStar RemoteLink smartphone app for iOS and Android devices.
The GM Authority Take
As we’ve mentioned before, that’s what you call a competitive advantage. The kicker? “I guess I’ll just call my people and get this taken care of”, courtesy of the Lexus driver. Precious.
Now, does anyone find the Buick driver to be more “likable” in this commercial? Sound off in the comments.

Decent commercial. gets the point across, but no “wow” factor. Buick needs to get some of the marketing gold that Cadillac has found in their new line of ads.
I agree with Levi. The point gets across, but it la is some umph!! It’s just not exciting.
And that was supposed to say “lacks some umph!”
Caution do not lock your cell phone in the vehicle!
If you did forget your cell in the car, then you could call OnStar to perform the remote command for you -1 (888) 466-7827 🙂
Im kinda begin to wonder how come GM don’t even offer self parking systems on their cars? I mean it’s not like I needed or anything but like Ford, Toyota, and BMW already offer those systems though.
Audi has the best parking system check it out on YouTube . Audi A4 parking trick.
I know that but like why GM never consider offering one on their models?? like it doesnt have to be on every model that they have it can just be on higher end models a la Cadillacs, Buicks
I have never seen anyone use a self-parking system. I honestly think it’s pointless, GM has to worry about more important things. Also If I ever see someone uses one that is under the age of 80 I would point at them and laugh. If you cannot park your own car you should not be drinking it. well thats what I think 🙂
If you haven’t people use one, you probably don’t live in the city — where such a system is most useful. I see at least a person a week use a system like this to park their cars in Denver. Heck, I would probably use it myself if I had to parallel park every day of the week.
I recently tested Ford’s system in the new Focus and was impressed; it’s like magic! Just pull up to the car ahead, press a button, let the system scan the space around you, shift to R, and then just control the throttle input! Loved it!
If Ford can offer it on the Focus, it needs to be an option on the Cruze (and up). The reason GM hasn’t offerred it yet is because their entire luxury line except for a few vehicles was designed several years ago and is — unfortunately — a “last generation” model line from a technology perspective. I’d think that — starting with the ATS — such a system will be an option.
so what you meant is that the newer platforms will get it?? because Ford already has this system in their Escapes, Explorer, and heck even a Mariner has it too.
Yupp. There are certain costs associated with retrofitting older vehicles that were not engineered to have the electronics for self parking systems. And given that not many buyers opt for the feature as it is, it’s not terribly crucial. But it will become more important in the future as cars become less transportation appliances and more an extension of our digital/connected lives.
so does the Escape count as older vehicles?
Yes, the Escape is “old”. The point is that it was engineered with the system in mind, while all of GM’s vehicles were not. So Ford didn’t have to find ways to shoehorn/retrofit the Escape (or Focus) with it.
I have a random thought here. The Hyundai Equus’ rear reminds me of a larger Buick that doesn’t exist. Also, don’t you think that the baby Enclave should be on the Theta Premium and should revive the nameplate of the Rendezvous? There’s a lot of people on Youtube that want the Rendezvous to return. What do you guys think?
I personally was never a fan of the Rendezvous name; it was classy but it put Buick at a disadvantage in web searches since most Americans don’t know how to spell it correctly. I like “Encore” a lot more — as it also fits with the naming scheme below Enclave.
Other than that, I completely agree that it should be a Theta Premium. 🙂
