The current generation Cadillac Escalade has been topping the theft charts nationwide. It probably has something to do with what we see here, but thankfully GM engineers have acknowledged these issues.
For the 2012 model year, the Escalade will feature a fortified steering column lock and an encrypted ignition lock and key. Additionally, sensors have been put in place to sound the alarm off if the glass is broken (it didn’t for 2011) and even an inclination sensor, which sounds off the alarm if the system detects a change in the angle of the SUV. Lastly, there’s a wheel lock system to prevent wheel theft.

Hahaa just a little note – that’s a base model Escalade and I haven’t seen one of those on a lot in forever. Why not use a Platinum image?
Its going to take more than that to stop the thefts, I dont think its because the escalade is less secure or has less theft detterents than other cars, but because escalades scream out wealthy, and if your a thief youre going to steal from the wealthy where theres a bigger chance of finding something valuable in the car.
It’s a rare Cadillac that leaves the lot without a LoJack anti-theft system. The dealer often makes more on LoJack than he or she does on the sale of the vehicle. For this reason dealers in the 27 or so states where LoJack is available prefer to talk about LoJack to talking about OnStar. They don’t make any money on OnStar. The anti-theft enhancements themselves sound like me-too, catch-up solutions.
