General Motors announced today that its Spring Hill, Tennessee assembly plant will begin producing cars once again starting with the Chevrolet Equinox in the second half of 2012. The plan calls for a $61 million investment to the plant, 594 hourly jobs and 91 salaried positions.
We should point out, however, that this announcement appears to be separate from GM’s plans to add two still-to-be announced mid-sized vehicles to the responsibilities of the facility. That plan calls for $183 million, 1,090 hourly job and 106 salaried jobs.
