NHTSA Expands Investigation On GM Over Saturn Transmission Issues

This past May, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration went under the microscope with about 44,000 Saturn Aura Green Line mild hybrids due to multiple complaints revolving around faulty transmissions. Now the New York Times is reportedly broadening that number, calling in a new total of 89,000 2007-2008 Aura and Aura Green Line models.

The investigation revolves around alleged faulty transmission cables in the car’s four-speed transmission, which may not shift into the proper gear, such as Park. Needless to say, it can be dangerous and the NHTSA has documented no less than eight cases involving this fault.
