General Motors and its local joint venture partner UzAvtosanoat have officially cut the red tape for a brand-spanking-new Powertrain facility in Uzbekistan. GM — a 52 percent owner of the plant — will build an annually estimated 225,000 1.2L and 1.5L Ecotec engines that will be implemented in small global vehicles such as the Chevrolet Spark.
