SEMA 2011: Chevrolet Reveals Monstrous COPO Drag Racing Camaro (With Video)

The Ford Mustang Cobra Jet may have finally met its match. Designed from the ground-up to compete in an NHRA Stock Eliminator drag racing competition, the Chevy COPO Camaro is a proof-of-concept machine designed for one purpose: racing.

Swapping out the stock independent rear suspension for a more appropriate solid rear axle and welding in a chrome roll cage, the COPO Camaro is properly equipped for its massive (massive!) 29×9-inch rear radial racing slicks to send it in any straight line as fast as it can possibly go.

Should this concept car ever become available to consumers, they can choose to outfit their monster with either a supercharged 5.3L V8 or a fearsome 7.0L LSX engine. For a full technical breakdown, feel free to open the press release below.
