We’re not sure how Ad Age came to the conclusion of labeling the Chevrolet Cruze a “brand”, but it still gives General Motors something to gloat over, as the publication lists the vehicle among the prestigious Top 25 Brands of 2011 among miscellaneous things like Dove Soap and Goldfish crackers.
The Kia Soul and Jeep Wrangler also made the list thanks to some very clever advertising. And as Chevy’s best selling model for the year, it should wear the award proudly, even if the car technically isn’t a brand.

As I understand automotive marketing, when they say “brand”, I understand it as “nameplate”. It might show my age using that term nowadays.
Although I equate “brand” with “marque”.
Okay, now I’m really showing my age.
Umm…..good for the Cruze “brand”.
