To date, General Motors sold 5,003 Chevrolet Volts this year — coming off a record October, where the car cracked 1,100 monthly sales. And with just two months left of 2011, General Motors CEO Dan Akerson is sticking to his company’s prediction that it will be able to move another 5,000 or so in that time frame to meet the goal of 10,000 Volt sales for the year.
While it seems like a tall order, we must keep in mind that the Volt is only just now finally becoming available nationwide, and that production is finally running at full steam after a couple of retooling shutdowns that happened earlier this year. To note, The General plans on selling 60,000 Volts in 2012, with 15,000 them being exported to markets such as Europe.
If GM doesn’t meet it’s goal, it should at least come very close.
