Cadillac Asks Why You Bought A Cadillac

In a recent tweet, Cadillac asked:
“We want to know: Why did you (or would you) buy a Cadillac?”
We found that to be a short yet purposeful question — so we’re posing it to you here.
Talk to us in the comments below, keeping in mind all the intricacies of choosing your Caddy over a competing brand. And when you’re done, feel free to answer Cadillac on Twitter as well… if you have an account, that is.

I chose my STS4 for 2 reasons. First, I am a “walking Quad” the result of a MVA in 1991, the result my CSpine is fused/decompressed from C3 through C7. Thus I began researching suspension/ride as I only have C1-C2 left. The air suspension on my Cadillac has absolutley been a life saver for me. Any other vehicle I suffered from major headaches/loss of use of my legs for a few days – after a road trip. Now I can drive 300+ miles to our summer cottage and have no after affects. The ride of my Cadillac has saved my spine from the normal “wear and tear” I would have suffered from any other choice of car. Second is the performance. I chose the “V-Package” which gives me safety when passing on the one lane highways in Saskatchewan. My choice to purchase my STS is the best decision I could have ever made. I did not realize until this summer how “rough” our streets and roads are here, as I have became accustomed to the smooth ride my Cadillac offers me over the past couple of years. Thank you GM!
First, I prefer American cars. In all aspects I find them far superior in performance and any needed service to any “foreign” cars.
Second, I have favored GM cars. I like their engineering and styling.
Third, I owned a Buick Enclave. I found that I no longer needed a 7 passenger car and Buick does not make a 5 passenger SUV. The Cadillac SRX offered me the comfort and styling…at an affordable price.
Most of my friends and relatives drive Audi, BMW, and Mercedes. those cars were on my list also, but I didn’t want what everyone drives, and since I favor GM vehicles, I picked CTS, this is my 3rd CTS and I love most things about it.
With the CTS, and hopefully with the upcoming xts and ats, Cadillac can offer a unique take aon luxury in terms of design and performance that the german brands dont have. Its not that Cadillac is better than them its just that its different. Plus its thousands cheaper and its American(not a defining factor).
I was looking at the larger cars because of the headroom, leg, hip, and shoulder room for the driver. As a person who is often driving a car by himself, back seat size / room and front passenger room was not that big of concern. The Cadillac De Ville DHS had the room and no console. I rented one for three weeks years ago, first year North Star system was put in base De Ville. Great car except I couldn’t use to the magnetic steering. Unfortunately I became ill and then I heard the DHS was killed and only could get DTS with console than the whole De Ville was killed. Cadillac is making some nice looking but to small cars for me. Currently I have a Lincoln Town Car which also has been killed, so I guess I’ll keep this car running far into the future. Only other choice would be a larger SUV or pick up truck (rather would like car). Don’t understand why the manufacturers won’t update the larger cars with hybrid (Town Car trunk so big a ton of batteries could be installed) systems, electronics, materials, etc. I would rather see a family in a car instead of minivan
Thanks for sharing Ronald. Have you considered the Lexus LS, BMW 7, or Mercedes S-Class? They’re all full sized luxury cars that have a ton of room front, back, and trunk. And all have active hybrid systems.
Cadillac will have a semi-competitor in that space soon with the launch of the XTS.
Would rather have a “American ” type car. I looked at BMW a few years ago but they had consoles. When I was younger or if I wanted a sports car, a console would be great but don’t believe every car has to have a console. Maybe a Mercedes S class or if I had the money maybe a Bentley or a Rolls
My folks own one because of the styling, how it handles, technical stuff. But my folks now think it gets too technical where you pretty much have to do surgery yourself to the car i.e. changing the turning signal you have to take the whole bumper out.
I agree with you about can’t even do simple maintenance on any car nowadays. I think Cadillac lost most of it’s great styling when it went with their Art & Science themes
I mean now i think it’s better but it’s just that on my SRX i have to take it to the dealer and change the bulb
Because, as James May said “it’s… A Cadillac.”
Seriously, we’ve been a GM family since the 30’s, we’ve had a vehicle from all their mainstream brands except for Cadillac. I despise German cars based on our expensive experience with our S-Class back in the 90s. And if I’m gonna buy a luxury car, I’m gonna buy one with heritage, not one that was created to sell Toyotas, Hondas, and Datsuns at a higher price. I know they’re not straight rebadges, but a Lexus will always be a Toyota to me.
because my cadillac escaldade had, what it had from the 1920’s to to the 1960’s: swagger
I have had GM cars for 20 years but never thought I would own a Cadillac…until Kate Walsh and the new CTS came along. My first Cadillac was a CTS sedan 09 quickly followed by a 10 SRX for my wife. Then the rumblings of the CTS coupe hit the internet and I knew I wanted one. To paraphrase Spinal Tap, the CTS coupe was taking a great car and turning the knob up to 11. My 2011 CTS coupe turns heads where everywhere I go and it reflects my independence, sense of freedom and power. Thanks Cadillac!
I bought my 05 CTS in 08, I love Cadillac styling and history, It’s the car associated most this Elvis, both are American originals.
But I digress.
If I had the money I would trade my CTS for an ATS, not a Camaro; a car I’ve loved since childhood, bacause I perfer handling to horsepower, roadracing to dragracing, and drifting to Nascar. And because I have to park in those norrow parking spaces they have these days and Camaro have two really long doors, Cadillacs are primaraly four doors.
I am a lifelong GM guy, I’ve apriciated and admired competing makes, but only buy GM.
just like in the 1920’s to the 1950’s Cadillac is GM’s best
556 HP, Station Wagon….
’nuff said
I bought my 2009 Caddy for two reasons. First, because most people only get to ride in a Cadillac at the end of their life, and with their eyes closed. I wanted my ride while I was still alive. Second, because of the LSA motor in the CTS-V rated at 556 hp. This car is likely the best North American car EVER made! It handles extremely well and is very civil to drive at everyday speeds. I just love this car!
Hi there, You have performed a great job. I’ll definitely digg it and in my view suggest to my friends. I am sure they’ll be benefited from this site.
i chose cadillac simply because 1. i love the nostalgia of the deville when i was 8 i was given a 70’s cadillac coupe deville from my grandfather he needed the money so he was given the ok to sell it even though i was highly against it but at that age theres not much you can do last December my chysler town and country broke down so i looked around for 2 weeks and every lot i went to the same car kept catching my attention the 00-05 cadillac devilles i tried a couple out but there was this one pewter colored cadillac deville it was a 2001 with 34,000 miles i couldnt believe it they only wanted 5 large for it seeing as i am 16 it took a bit of doing coming up with the money but as soon as i did my name was the first to be out on a fresh title since then i have put 10,000 miles on it a water pump ,tires ,brakes ,and a few oil changes and right side window regulators but its been worth every penny so far i have about 9,000 dollars in the car and i wouldnt trade it for anything every girl who ive had the pleasure to acompany me for a ride has fell in love with it all leather int. a beautiful northstar engine made from some of the best parts gm has to offer i feel safer in my cadillac than i do in my house i cannot say that about any other car company cadillac my have been started from fords leftover but now there straight chevy power and id rather push a chevy than drive a ford i take pride in seeing that beautiful cadillac badge cutting its way through the wind on my hood (please gm put the crest back where it belongs flying over the hood not on the grill maybe both) thank you whoever maybe reading this and thankyou gm for making the finest automobiles on the planet
