The season finale of the Pirelli SCCA World Challenge Grand Prix and American Le Mans Series took place this weekend, with both Cadillac Racing and Corvette Racing each looking to close out on a high note. Driver Johnny O’Connell managed to do just that for Cadillac, earning the team’s only win of the season at Road Atlanta’s 2.54-mile circuit. Teammate Andy Pilgrim also joined O’Connell on the podium, finishing third just behind rival driver Mike Skeen. In addition, O’Connell drove away with the pole position for the race with a time of 1:21.896.
Corvette Racing, on the other hand, managed a fourth place finish in the GT category after 9.5 grueling hours of the Petit Le Mans (which also took place at Road Atlanta). Drivers Oliver Gavin, Jan Magnussen, and Richard Westbrook completed 366 laps around the track, while the No. 3 Compuware Corvette C6.R of Olivier Beretta, Tommy Milner, and Antonio Garcia was forced to retire after 76 laps due to a broken gearbox and finished 17th in the GT category. Additionally, Gavin and Magnussen finished second in ALMS driver’s points standings with 135 points.
