Convertibles are a niche market. And convertibles that boast a Shelby Mustang GT-500 beating 580 horsepower are even more of a niche market. So, if you want to be a little bit different, Chevy’s got a car coming just for you, and will showcase it at the Los Angeles Auto Show next month.
The Camaro ZL1 Convertible will feature all of the high-performance tweaks and upgrades that helped the upcoming coupe lap the Nürburgring in 7:41.27, but will also feature a front “X” brace, a stiffer cradle and rear underbody “V” braces. Like the standard Camaro Convertible, these reinforcements are designed to subdue any twisting in the frame and things like scuttle shake. GM engineers did a fairly good job with the SS Convertible, so our expectations remain high for this range-topping model.
Did you notice the revised front grille? We did. We dig it.
