As part of its Let’s Do This launch campaign for the new Sonic, Chevy decided to throw the subcompact car out of a plane. Thoughtfully, it strapped a parachute on the Gamma II-based hatch, ensuring a safe and sound landing.

I wanted to see the landing.
Just saw one on the road 4 first time, hatch very nice, pictures don’t do these justice, way nicer in person. Saw interior of sedan at dealer, very nice. Truthefully this ad is stupid, I want to see it driving not flying through the air… Chevy needs a new ad agency. Seriously, after the horrible volt ads and now this…
The Sonic is really great. Anyone who doesn’t like it is a bit nuts, in my opinion. Although rear disk brakes would be nice on the LTZ.

Today I saw a burnt orange sonic hatch, like WOW… I don’t normaly like that color but man on the Sonic yowza… The stance of the car is really strong looking, I am liking these evenmore everyday.
Alex, I think with the Sonic its a car you have to see in person to really appreciate, the silver test car pictures that were being shown just did not do this car justice. The black one I saw on the road the other day looked awsome on the road.
Totally agree. I recently had a discussion with someone on Facebook who feels the Sonic is not attractive and looks “like an Aveo.” I’d politely disagree with that kind of assessment.
Why din’t they put the Chevy Bowie on the parachute. Slackers.
