General Motors will be turning over a new leaf (pun intended) and will launch an all-electric Chevrolet Spark in the domestic market, hopefully by 2013. The car is expected to be targeted at urban environments, and will be a perfect fit for somebody who needs a basic definition of gas-free four-wheeled transportation.
An all-electric Chevy Beat (the Spark with a different name) one-off was showcased in India earlier this year and featured a range of 81 miles courtesy of a 45 kW battery pack. That should give you an indicator for what to expect.
A gasoline-powered Chevy Spark
is expected to will launch in the U.S. market by mid-2012, with a 1.2-liter, 82 horsepower four-cylinder engine. Don’t count on breathtaking performance.
