Hennessey Performance Engineering is turning 20-years-old this year, and is celebrating the only way it knows how by conjuring up 20 limited-edition 20th-anniversary HPE650 Camaros.
These exclusive monsters feature a 6.2L LS3 V8 engine fitted with a TVS2300 supercharger system, a less restrictive exhaust system, a reprogrammed engine computer, revised cylinder heads, and new camshafts. Altogether, these modifications give the powerplant enough gusto to crank out a scary 655 horsepower, which Hennessey claims is enough to propel the HPE650 from zero to sixty in a scant 3.7 seconds and a quarter-mile time of just 11.7 seconds.
Hennessey will even let you choose between a manual or an automatic transmission, and between a coupe or convertible variant. However, the only paint offered will be black — to match the mandatory black leather interior. There’s also special 20-inch Hennessey tires wrapped by Pirelli rubber, 20th-anniversary badging, serial plaques, a reworked engine cover, a new splitter and CarbonAero side skirts. The suspension system has also been lowered by one inch.
Hennessey has priced these special HPE650 coupe models from $79,500, while the drop-top flavor demands $84,500. And again, only 20 of these machines will be built, each with a sequential serial number.
If you live in California, you’re ruled out, as this vehicle fails to meet CARB regulations.
