General Motors, along with the City of Arlington, Texas, officials of Tarrant County and leaders of UAW Local 276 assembled yesterday to break ground for the $331 million expansion to the Arlington assembly plant, which has been tasked with building the next generation Chevy, GMC and Cadillac full-sized SUVs such as the Suburban and Escalade.
The most noticeable element of the new expansion will be the new 129,250 square-foot body shop that will feature 51 bays and six new truck docking stations. Additionally, a good chunk of change will be spent on new machinery and tooling.
