Wordless Wednesdays: Chevy SSR Paces NASCAR

In its first year of production, the SSR was the official pace car of the Indianapolis 500. Of course, the 2011 Chevy Camaro Convertible was the official pace car of the Centennial edition of the Indy 500 in May of 2011. Boy how much has changed since 2003… long live the unique SSR!

Wait isn’t it 2011….
why did they ever quit making the SSR , I know they sold few but it isn’t a driver it is a collector piece
I can’t imagine there was much a profit on these vehicles. It may have been a fine collector’s car, but that doesn’t benefit GM much when dealer supply exceeds 400 days (which actually occurred with the SSR).
I know some pictures have copyrights on them, but this looks more like a photo from a Nascar Winston Cup race at Texas in around 06.
Iceman, ha it sure wasn’t the indy 500 was it…
The SSR, was rediculous…
The biggest problem with the SSR was that towing was so limited. You couldn’t tow a trailer with your Corvette show car or even a decent sized boat.
