Shanghai GM Sets August Sales Record With 13.4 Percent Growth

With 205,885 units on the board for last month, Shanghai GM and its joint ventures saw a record August 2011, setting a pace good for a year-over-year growth of 13.4 percent. Year-to-date, Shanghai GM and friends have tallied 1,652,693 total vehicle sales, which is a growth of 5.4 percent from the same period last year.
Standouts for August include Buick, which grew 22.6 percent year over year, selling 56,026 units (another August record). Also seeing the best August ever in China was Chevrolet, racking up 46,370 unit sales and growing 20.5 percent. Additionally, Cadillac grew 55.8 percent with 2,531 units sold.
