Despite exceeding the September 14 deadline, negotiators representing both General Motors and the United Auto Workers continue to meet at the bargaining table to finish up a new labor contract. UAW Vice President Joe Ashton has told The Detroit Free Press that everything is “very close” to a settlement, but a definite finishing date remains in the air.
Major topics of negotiation from the UAW include the hope of larger profit-sharing checks, signing bonuses, and higher wages for entry-level workers.
